Joseph Anderson collection.

This collection consists of the Manumission certificate (1842). The text of the certificate reads as follows: Maryland, Anne-Arundel County, to wit: I, William B. Green, Clerk of Maryland, Anne-Arundel County Court, do hereby certify, that it hath been proved to my satisfaction, that the bearer hereof, named Joseph Anderon, aged about forty-eight years, about five feet four and a half inches high, dark complexion, has a flesh mark upon the breast, has a large scar upon the left leg, and is one of the persons set free by Charles Hammond, of Charles, by deed dated the 18th day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three, and that he was raised in the county aforesaid. In testimony whereof, I hereto set my name, and affix the seal of Anne-Arundel County Court, this 30th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-two.
